Inayah

GEMS UIS’ Inayah Fathima Faeez scoops top honors at the VoFG story writing competition.

Our grade 6 student, Inayah was awarded the first prize in English category for her short story, ‘A Prescription for a Faltering Future’. Her literary feat was felicitated by HH Sheikha Hissa bint Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative’s Goodwill Ambassador, at the award ceremony held in Dubai. The unique writing initiative is organized under the patronage of UNESCO to promote awareness about the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Inayah’s story throws light on the SDGs that concern us today viz. climate action, life on land and sustainable cities, through her character ‘Reem’ who initiates small steps towards turning her vision of a sustainable city into reality. We are proud of how Inayah has put to play her HPL ACPs and VAAs of originality, concern for society, strategy planning, imagination, and confidence. We wish her much success as she tracks another step in her journey as a child author.
